NEXT Advantages

User experience

1. Frequency of False Rejections (FRRs)
2. Speed of transaction/authentication process
3. Ease of enrollment

Level of security

In Quality Critical applications level of security can not be compromised.

Ability to serve all users

Governments, corporations and major payment industry players can only implement systems usable for virtually all their citizens, employees and customers.

Cost & Scalability

LTPS production process is based on production of sensors in sheets of polysilicon. 840 sensors per sheet normally used in display manufacturing

Enrollment

All Quality Critical applications require large and correct enrollments.

Open systems

In many countries, including India, Germany, France and Italy, databases of full prints are not allowed – only templates may be stored

Physical flexibility

The material can be applied on top of rigid substrates (glass) or flexible substrates (PET) creating both rigid and flexible (smart card compliant) sensors.

Testing & Documentation

In Quality Critical applications, relevant and credible testing is mandatory

Privacy compliance

Bypassing the centralized databases, Smart cards, tokens, notebooks and other devices storing the prints locally significantly reduces the privacy concerns...

Standards Compliance

In a networked, open and competitive world, standards and interoperability is key to ensure cost efficiency and supply chain security. NEXT Biometrics is a an active contributor in the efforts to create such long term sustainable standards

Meeting quality critical segment requirements

NEXT Biometrics has a number of advantages that have led to it’s position as one of the market leaders for fingerprint sensor technology.

Ability to serve close to 100 percent of the market
NEXT’s ability to create sensors covering a large area allow the company to deliver accurate results in real life conditions. NEXT systems are able to provide accurate results even when reading fingerprints that are less than ideal, covering issues like cut, worn, dry, wet or feature poor fingers. Sensor systems based on NEXT technology allow the ability to serve very close to 100 percent of targeted user groups.

Physical flexibility
NEXT sensors are produced with materials only a few micrometers thick. The material can be applied on rigid (glass) or flexible (PET) substrates, thus creating both rigid and flexible sensors.

Cost efficiency
Leveraging the production processes in existing, high quality, high yield display fabs, NEXT manufactures high performance sensors at significantly lower costs than all other comparable sensor suppliers. As sensor size increases (and allows greater accuracy), the benefit of NEXT’s cost advantage increases.

NEXT one-touch enrollment

NEXT fingerprint sensors allow fast, intuitive,
one-touch enrollment.
This ensures high quality capture of fingerprint data and allows the enrollment process to be simple, broadly used and lower cost than competing solutions.

Reliability
More than 5 million NEXT sensors have been shipped to a range of customers including Tier One Notebook OEMs. These sensors are used in a diverse range of operating environments.

Scalability
Given that NEXT sensors are mass produced using standard processes in high-end display fabs, mass production can be easily scaled to meet virtually any level of demand.

Uncompromised security and ease-of-use
The ability to manufacture large area sensors at low cost enables distribution of sensor systems that meet quality critical application requirements for both security and convenience.

Open standards support
NEXT sensor systems are based on established standards for template creation, feature extraction, and matching. These standards include ISO 19794-2 and ANSI 378 and allow NEXT sensors to work with existing systems and fingerprint databases. Such interoperability is typically a mandatory requirement in government and payment industry applications.

Testing and documentation
Testing and documentation provide NEXT customers with yet another level of confidence in the company’s sensor technology. NEXT sensors are subjected to rigorous third-party testing, which allows test results to be gathered, documented, and published for customer assessment.

In addition, Tier One notebook suppliers run NEXT products through additional levels of tests including biometric performance, physical robustness, and logistical capabilities.

ISO compliance
ISO compliance is typically a mandatory requirement in government and payment industry applications. NEXT sensors are compliant with all applicable ISO standards, including those critical for smart cards such as physical flexibility and sensor size.

Strong IP Position
NEXT owns and controls patents on its unique Active Thermal™ principle. The NEXT IP-portfolio consists of a range of patents and trade secrets granting the company a solid and long-lasting position for protecting its IP advantages.
