NEXT Biometrics secures new design-win for notebooks

Oslo, 27 September 2021 – NEXT Biometrics (Oslo Bors: NEXT), today announce a new notebook design-win with a large Asia based technology & solutions company. NEXT will provide fingerprint sensors to selected models in the company’s notebook product range.

The customer has initiated a dual source biometric fingerprint strategy. After an extensive validation period, the Asia based tech company has decided to provide NEXT with this opportunity. The incumbent fingerprint provider will now be challenged by NEXT active thermal fingerprint technology. NEXT has already received initial purchase orders for NEXT standard PC fingerprint sensors to be utilized in one new notebook product. The Asia based tech company is a worldwide leader in the development of diverse electronics, technologies and solutions for consumer electronics, business NoteBooks and high security demand customers in a wide variety of industries and public safety. The company has a strong market position in the B2B segment, which is an excellent match for NEXT larger size high security sensors.

NEXT anticipates 9-12 months before the company will reach higher volumes with the customer. This segment is known for its long design-in lead times, but also for long-lasting agreements.

“We communicated our ambitions to rejuvenate the Notebook segment 9 months ago when we launched our new Secure BIO product. Today’s design-win is a great proof-point for NEXT in this regard. The design-win demonstrates that our active thermal fingerprint technology is competitive, and that we have once again been selected due to our great formfactor, high security level and demonstrated customer focus in the notebook segment”, says NEXT CEO Peter Heuman.
