NEXT Biometrics (Oslo Bors: NEXT), a global leader in biometric authentication technology, is pleased to announce that its partner, previously known as ‘the first India OEM’, now Access Computech Pvt. Ltd. (ACPL), has received L1 certification in India. ACPL is a leading local OEM with a market share of +20% in India. The company is now ready to launch its product with NEXT Biometrics’ cutting-edge FAP20 sensor.

The attainment of the L1 certification by ACPL follows a rigorous and internationally recognized process, establishing it as a gold standard in biometric certification worldwide. With this announcement, NEXT expects increasing market interest in Active ThermalTM technology and aims to sign up additional partners in other customer segments for the Indian Aadhaar ecosystem.

NEXT has previously communicated that sales in India, one of the largest biometric markets globally, to a large extent will be dependent on this certificate. NEXT now expects more recurring orders with shipments starting from Q4 2023 and into 2024.

This significant accomplishment solidifies ACPL and NEXT Biometrics’ position among an elite group of OEMs globally, with only two others holding the coveted L1 certificate.

This announcement, in conjunction with NEXT’s previously communicated updated go-to-market strategy for India, solidifies an enhanced distribution network and market positioning for NEXT Biometrics.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to ACPL for this remarkable achievement. It underscores our commitment to deliver world-class biometric solutions in partnership with ACPL. This is the moment we have been waiting for, this is the starting point for making NEXT Biometrics sensor a substantial part of Indian Aadhaar eco-system.”, says Ulf Ritsvall, SVP of Sales and Marketing.

Ajay Sinha, MD at ACPL, expressed his appreciation for NEXT Biometrics, saying, “The NEXT team did a fantastic job integrating their world-class sensor with our device. We chose NEXT Biometrics’ latest sensor for its durability, slim form factor, and low power consumption which are attributes essential for handheld devices, terminals for banking, transportation, logistics, and other allied industries, which is our primary focus.”

NEXT’s business relationship with ACPL started in 2022, which was described in the press release announced on February 2, 2022.
